LOST TRIBE Player guide
Player guide / Joining

Joining the server

There is no application and no waiting list. If you are a member of the Lost Tribe Discord, you can play. You link your Minecraft account to your Discord account once, and you are in.

What you need

You must be 13 or older

Discord requires it, and the server runs on Discord, so there is no other way in. Parents and guardians: the parents page explains why.

Step 1: be in the Discord

Join the Lost Tribe Discord if you are not already in it. That is the whole eligibility check. Staff do not need to approve you separately.

Step 2: add the server

  1. Open Minecraft and click Multiplayer.
  2. Click Add Server.
  3. Server name: anything you like, for example Lost Tribe.
  4. Server address: mc.losttribe.me
  5. Click Done.

No port number is needed. If the name will not resolve on your network, the numeric address 170.205.26.28 works too.

The first time you join, the server disconnects you with a message containing a short code. That is expected. It is how the server learns which Discord account is yours.

  1. Select the server and click Join Server. Read the disconnect message and note the code.
  2. On Discord, open a direct message with the Minecraft bot (find it in the Lost Tribe server's member list) and send it the code.
  3. The bot confirms the link. Join the server again. You are in.

You only do this once. Later you can check the link with /discord linked in game, or remove it with /discord unlink. Your Discord name appears next to your in-game chat so people know who they are talking to.

Did not get a code, or it stopped working?

Join again and a fresh code is shown. Codes expire after a few minutes. If the bot does not answer, check that your Discord privacy settings allow direct messages from server members, then ask in #minecraft-help.

Ranks

Everyone starts as default and is promoted to member after a quick onboarding: you have read the rules and know how claims work. Member unlocks homes, teleport requests, and land claims. Staff do the promotion, usually within your first session.

RankWhat it means
defaultLinked and can look around, chat, and use /spawn.
memberNormal play: claims, 3 homes, teleport requests, nicknames.
[Trusted]Long-standing members: 5 homes, portable crafting table and ender chest, /back any time.
[Helper] [Mod] [Admin]Staff. They answer reports and keep the server safe.

Connection problems

"You must link your Discord account" (with a code)

Not an error. Follow step 3: send the code to the bot on Discord, then join again.

"You are banned from this server"

Bans are shared between Discord and the server. If you were banned or removed from the Lost Tribe Discord, you cannot join the server. If you think it is a mistake, message an admin on Discord to appeal.

"Outdated client" or "Outdated server"

Use Minecraft 26.1.2 through 26.2. In the launcher, create an installation for one of those versions. Newer clients in that range work thanks to a compatibility plugin.

"Failed to verify username"

Mojang's login servers are having trouble. Fully close the launcher, sign out and back in, and try again in a few minutes.

"Unknown host" or the address will not resolve

Try the numeric address 170.205.26.28. If that works, your network's DNS is slow to pick up the name. It will sort itself out.

"Connection refused" or endless "Connecting..."

The server is probably restarting or down. Check #server-status on Discord, which posts automatically the moment the server goes up or down. If it has been down a while, ask in #minecraft-help.

Playing with mods

Performance mods (Sodium, Lithium, and similar) and cosmetic mods are generally fine. Anything that shows you hidden ores, lets you fly, or automates play counts as cheating. See the rules.
