LOST TRIBE Player guide
Player guide / Protecting your builds

Protecting your builds

Claimed land is untouchable. Nobody else can build, break, open chests, use doors, or hurt your animals inside it. Claiming takes a minute and it is the single most useful thing you can do on your first day.

Why claim

Griefing is against the rules and everything is logged, so damage can always be undone. A claim means it never happens in the first place. Claims also lock your doors, gates, buttons, and containers automatically.

Your first chest

The first chest you place creates a small automatic claim around it, 9 × 9 blocks. That covers a starter shelter. Once you have a golden shovel, replace it with a proper claim sized to your build.

Golden shovel claims

  1. Craft a golden shovel: one stick and one gold ingot on top, stick below (same shape as any shovel).
  2. Hold it and right-click one corner of the area you want. A glowstone marker appears.
  3. Walk to the opposite corner and right-click again. The claim is created and its edges light up with gold blocks and glowstone for a moment.
  4. Claims go from bedrock to sky, so you only need to mark the surface footprint.

Right-click any block with a stick to see whether it is claimed and by whom. Right-click the corner of your own claim with the golden shovel to resize it.

Claim blocks

Every block of ground you claim costs one claim block. You start with enough for a comfortable house and earn more just by playing.

Check your balance any time with /claimslist. If you run out, keep playing or abandon a claim you no longer use.

Sharing with friends

Stand inside your claim and use these. They apply to the claim you are standing in, or to all your claims if you are standing outside one.

CommandWhat the other player can do
/trust NameEverything: build, break, open chests, use doors.
/containertrust NameOpen chests, furnaces, and use animals, but not build or break.
/accesstrust NameUse doors, buttons, levers, and beds only.
/permissiontrust NameGrant trust to others on your behalf.
/untrust NameRemove them. /untrust all removes everyone.
/trustlistSee who is trusted in this claim.

Trust carefully. If a trusted friend damages your build, staff can still roll it back, but it counts as griefing for them.

Managing claims

CommandWhat it does
/claimslistList your claims, their locations, and your claim block balance.
/abandonclaimDelete the claim you are standing in. Blocks are refunded.
/abandonallclaimsDelete every claim you own. Asks you to confirm.
/subdivideclaimsSwitch the shovel to subdivision mode to carve rooms inside a shared claim with separate trust.
/basicclaimsSwitch the shovel back to normal claiming mode.

Stuck or griefed

Going away for a while

To keep the world tidy, unused claims eventually expire so the land can be reused.

Taking a long break? Tell staff in #minecraft-help and they can protect your claims from expiring.
